Ahoy Friends of “Island Rover”

It is a very sincere and happy experience to welcome all the supporters and volunteers to the re-launch of the Island Rover Foundation (IRF) web sites.  Technology has advanced significantly since the first decade of 2000 when my shipmate Charlie Allsworth played a significant role in building the huge web site promoting both building of the ship “Island Rover” as well as expansion of and recording of the progress of the educational venue.  For those who have not yet found the re-launch of the educational programs, I call your attention to the sister web site at: www.Institute.IslandRover.org –which is much of the reporting of educational accomplishments and dissemination of then current environmental news and knowledge.

While there was a “Captains Log from the Pilot House” back then, however, it was very laborious to create and circulate and only a oneway flow of information and knowledge.  Like the educational venues, those Captain’s Logs were archived and will from time to time be resurrected for memories.     More to the point, Current Technology now allows for this blog, to act in a capacity of a mutual exchange and sharing of thoughts and information as the: “Captain’s Log”.  

I want to personally thank Patty Kennedy for her long standing, constant over sight of the Island Rover FaceBook presence, where in she occasionally (at the Captain’s request) spoke to the world, as the FaceBook web site administrator.  The creation of this new IRF web site based “Captain’s Log” blog is intended to increase the venues for meaningful sharing and exchange.

The Captain and the Crew will be welcoming meaningful, polite, and relatively short remarks and comments.  Please stay on topic.  As a new “Friend” or an old Volunteer, if you wish to make more than just a short remark or comment , or wish to address a “Burning Topic” to the Captain’s Log blog.  Your written contribution submitted to:  CaptArndt@Islandrover.org OR Sailorman@islandrover.org  your idea or contribution will be addressed.
